Labour in the County Council

Leicestershire County Council is run by the Tories with 30 seats. Labour are the second largest Party with 13 seats, and the Liberals, who were previously in coalition with the Tories have 12.

Labour has seats right across the county, including Melton, Earl Shilton, Braunstone, Loughborough, Ibstock and Coalville.
The County Council's main responsibilities are: Social Services and Community Care; Education; Transportation; Libraries and Museums; Strategic Planning and Waste Disposal. The County does not cover the City of Leicester. Labour hold five of the eight seats in the constituency:
